March for Ranesha McBride this weekend!

Click here to join facebook event.

Renisha McBride was a young, black woman that got killed for being black and asking for help in a white neighborhood. After being in a car accident in a white suburb of Detroit, she went to someone’s door to ask for help and a white man named Theodor Wafer shot her in the face and killed her.

THIS MARCH AND RALLY IS GOING TO BE POWERFUL, WE GOT SOME POWERFUL MOTHERS,, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS COMING OUT TO SPEAK TRUTH ABOUT THEIR MURDERED LOVED ONES, AND THE SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS IT TO KEEP HAPPENING WITHOUT NO JUST REASON BUT FOR THE COLOR OF OUR SKIN. WE AS AFRICANS CAN NO LONGER SIT BY AND NOT EDUCATE OUR PEOPLE ON THE GENOCIDE AND THE WAR ON OUR BLACK AND BROWN YOUTH IN THIS COUNTRY. WE MUST SPEAK FOR THE DEAD. SO COME OUT WITH YOUR BANNERS AND SIGN AND ORGANIZATION HOOKUPS TO GET FOLKS INVOLVED IN THE EAST OAKLAND AREA AND BEYOND.

BLACK LIVES MATTER WHEREVER WE LIVE, WE MUST SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE RACISST KILLING WAR ON OUR BLACK AND BROWN YOUTH IN THIS COUNTRY

HERE WE GO AGAIN, EVERYTIME WE TURN AROUND NOW ITS ONE BLACK LIFE AFTER ANOTHER ASSASSINATED, JUSTIFIED, AND SWEPT UNDER THE RUG, WE DEMAND JUSTICE FOR RENISHAS KILLER AS WELL AS ALL PEOPLE KILLED UNJUSTLY BY SO CALLED PROPERTY DEFENDERS AND WHITE KKK MEMBERS, WE SAY NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!!!

WE IN OAKLAND KNOW FAR TO WELL THE INJUSTICES OF MUREDRS THAT GET SWEPT UP UNDER THE RUG. COPS, JUDGES, VIGILANTES ALL LIE TO PROTECT EACH OTHER FROM BEING CHARGED WITH MURDER ALL DAY IN THIS COUNTRY. WE IN OAKLAND KNOW THAT INJUSTICE IS A GLOBAL EPIDEMIC.

IN SOLIDARITY WITH DETROIT, WE WILL HAVE A SPEAKOUT, MARCH, AND RALLY THROUGH THE STREETS OF EAST OAKLAND TO EXPOSE AND BRING AWARENESS TO THIS GLOBAL EPIDEMIC DUE TO THE FACT THAT OUR COMMUNITIES ARE SUFFERING FROM LOSS OF LIFE SO MUCH THAT SOME OF US HAVE GOTTEN IMMUNED TO DEATH.

July 9 Message from Short Corridor Hungerstrike Reps

The Tsega Center stands in Solidarity with the California Prisoner Hunger Strike — more info about our work soon. Here is an update on the Hunger Strike :

Greetings to our supporters and all people of conscience.

We are grateful for your support of our peaceful protest against the state-sanctioned torture that happens not only here at Pelican Bay but in prisons everywhere. We have taken up this hunger strike and work stoppage, which has included 30,000 prisoners in California so far, not only to improve our own conditions but also an act of solidarity with all prisoners and oppressed people around the world.

We encourage everyone to take action to support the strike wherever they live. Sign the petition demanding California Governor stop the torture; plan rolling solidarity fasts if you are able; use every means to spread the word; and participate in non-violent direct action to put pressure on decision-makers.

If it was not for your support, we would have died in 2011. Thank you everyone. We are confident we will prevail.

In Solidarity,
– Todd Ashker, C-58191, PBSP-SHU, D4-121
– Arturo Castellanos, C-17275, PBSP-SHU, D1-121

March Against Berkeley Police

Callout to attend March at 6:30 pm in People’s Park, in response to the Berkeley Police killing a transwoman in her home last week, and other recent murders at the hands of police:

“Nearly one month later and the Berkeley Police still have not released
information as to the cause of her death, leaving most questions
unanswered. However we do know that there was no commotion or overt
disturbance prior to BPD’s arrival. We know when Berkeley Police arrived
at her home, for the second time in one night, they had police back-up but they did not have a mental health mobile crisis team with them. We know Ms Moore was
alive and not on the verge of death prior to the arrival of the Berkeley Police. We know police regularly murder people of color, gender-variant people, and people with “mental illness.” We also know only one Police Officer in California has been convicted in the death of a civilian and his charges were brought only after massive riots swept Oakland. ”
